Stoneware, transfer decoration. Vivid full-color two-panel motif. A portrait of the buffalo is seen on the left side of the handle. The right side shows a full-scene presentation of the animal in its natural habitat. Each image is surrounded by an original elk horn design and raised-relief borders. Embossed, half-high pewter lid. Quoting James A. Meger: “The North American buffalo (bison) is an amazing animal which captures the very essence of the plains of this great continent”.
